The Craft of Screenwriting

A NEW 12 WEEK INTENSIVE SESSION BEGINS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2012!

Taught by Tony Savant, you will learn the essential fundamental elements contained in all well-constructed screenplays and films. Mr. Savant’s approach is based on Lajos Egri’s classic, “The Art of Dramatic Writing”, adapted exclusively to screenplay structure. The class aims at demystifying the screenwriting process and giving you a real, practical, step by step approach to writing a script, from idea to finished product.

Also a great course in script analysis! Will break down award-winning films and screenplays in great detail, scene-by-scene, so you can see how well-crafted scripts are designed. At the end of the 3 months you will have done a lot of writing exercises, completed a 7-15 page screenplay for a short film, and also have the tools and feel empowered by a real approach to go write other screenplays!

Whether you wish to be an actor, director, producer or a writer, this is a great course, as you learn things that anyone in any area of filmmaking should understand about scripts. It will also challenge you like few other courses will do.

What Students Have Said About the Class:

This class was truly a life-changing experience. It frees the writer within you. Tony’s class gave us fundamental basics that we can use, and put in my hands the exact tools that will allow the stories within me to reach out and touch people’s lives in a profound way. The class answered every question I had about screenwriting.  Writing is now an exciting experience.  I now confidently know what makes a great script.  I also can fully recognize one that won’t succeed and specifically why it won’t. ~ Pamela Peak, award-winning writer/producer/director

Tony’s class is a must take cram session of film history, screenwriting basics and in-depth class exercises that a  writer at any level can benefit from.  I took this class after having years of hands on writing experience in the industry at Sony, Disney and ABC but never having taken any formal classes.  From a structural stand point alone this class would be an asset to any future writer, director or producer. I will keep the notebook that I created during class for years to come, as it is chock full of usable story lines, dialogue, and in class notes that will come in handy any time I sit down and type FADE IN on my computer. ~ Kate Brooks
